Adapting to global demands As CEO and MD for Europe, Rashid’ s responsibilities serve as a clear indication of the multifaceted nature of modern logistics leadership.
A typical day varies tremendously, encompassing everything from administrative tasks to stakeholder engagement.
“ My role reflects both the complexity and dynamism of our business,” says Rashid.“ No two days are the same. One moment, I might be handling administrative or strategic planning; the next, I’ m engaging with customers, shareholders or stakeholders.
“ Every day involves looking at both the present and the future. Leading Europe, my focus is on ensuring that our ports, terminals, and logistics hubs deliver value while adapting to the evolving demands of global trade.”
Rashid goes on to emphasise the importance of maintaining connection with operations on the ground:“ A significant portion of my time is spent with customers and teams, listening, learning and making informed decisions that drive progress.”
A balanced leadership approach When describing his leadership philosophy, Rashid Abdulla stresses the importance of balance –“ between being directive, coaching and participating”.

and shareholders. It’ s a flexible approach that proved particularly valuable when faced with recent global challenges.
“ The pandemic reinforced the importance of adaptability and teamwork,” contends Rashid.“ Then, we faced challenges like supply chain disruptions and shifting trade routes which required quick thinking and strong collaboration.
“ To address these, we expanded rail services, transitioned to cleaner energy and invested in digital tools like CARGOES to improve efficiency.”
