THE SUPPLY CHAIN INTERVIEW
“ What makes DP World unique to me is the opportunity to lead exceptional teams and solve complex challenges”
RASHID ABDULLA, CEO AND MANAGING DIRECTOR FOR EUROPE, DP WORLD
Rashid identifies three key areas of development that particularly excite him:
1. Operational efficiency: Using digital tools and automation to improve speed, visibility and cost-effectiveness. For example, DP World’ s Carbon Footprint Calculator helps companies measure and reduce their environmental impact.
2. Customer-focused innovation: Developing smart solutions that enhance the supply chain experience for internal and external customers.
3. Industry-wide innovation: Supporting the incubation and promotion of ideas, both within DP World and across the broader logistics ecosystem. The company’ s investment in renewable energy, such as an offshore wind farm near Germany’ s coast, is an example of how it integrates sustainability with innovation.
Building resilient supply chains Recent years have tested global supply chains like never before.
Rashid reveals how DP World is helping clients navigate turbulence and prepare for future disruptions:“ Geopolitical, economic and force majeure events continue to test global supply chains. However, our products, services and solutions are designed to be dynamic, adaptable and resilient.
“ We are committed to supporting our customers and the industry – whether in times of crisis or growth.”
Rather than short-term fixes, DP World emphasises structural solutions, focusing on long-term stability.
“ We invest in infrastructure, expand multimodal logistics services and optimise our networks to ensure fluidity and flexibility,” Rashid adds.
The company’ s extensive European presence provides a solid foundation for these efforts. Investments in 33 countries across Europe have not only significantly increased capacity, but reduced congestion and improved efficiency.
