NOKIA’ S EYES IN THE SKY: DRONES REDEFINE SUPPLY CHAINS
Nokia Drone Networks is changing the way supply chains operate by making airspace part of the warehouse.
These are not your average drones. Fully automated and 5G-connected, they come in a box and are ready to fly with zero manual launch. Once deployed, they handle complex warehouse and logistics tasks that normally drain time and resources.
Equipped with high-definition and thermal imaging, these drones can perform beyondvisual-line-of-sight( BVLOS) missions – flying through shelves, racks and outdoor depots to inspect goods, track stock and check for hazards. They’ re smart too, using AI and edge computing to process data on the spot and share insights instantly.
“ Drones are increasingly being deployed to enhance supply chain efficiency, particularly in warehouse and logistics operations,” explains Thomas Eder, Head of Embedded Wireless Solutions at Nokia.
What sets the drones apart is the way they tap into private wireless networks.
Thomas adds:“ The connectivity layer is particularly important, as the integration of autonomous drones with private wireless and edge computing means that they can be deployed quicker and at scale across logistics hubs. With data processed at the edge, organisations gain near-instant insights that support even better decision-making, compliance and asset visibility across the supply chain.” supplychaindigital. com 15
