SUPPLY CHAIN SUSTAINABILITY
Part of this role is equipping more than 8,000 suppliers with practical tools and knowledge – no small feat. As a result, the platform is built to help suppliers advance their own sustainability capabilities using accessible online data, training and self-guided roadmaps.
“ When working with clients on sustainability,” Sean explains,“ we approach it like a financial audit – showing savings on purchases.”
Clients typically start with achievable changes: switching materials, reducing excess usage and cutting down on plastics. Over time, this grows into a broader strategy, covering water, electricity, air and gas use – areas where smart meters and open-source tools offer practical carbon reductions.
Transparency, collaboration and compliance are essential to Sean’ s approach.“ Companies often balance pressure between regulatory strictures and profit. Hard supplier requirements help, but collaboration, honesty, and transparency are equally crucial for longevity,” he explains.
Of course, technology also plays a transformative role. AI acts as a nearvital enabler of emissions reduction in some industries. Sean explains:“ AI helps reduce empty truckload miles, improving efficiency and cutting emissions. 43 % of US trucks are less than half full, 25 % run empty. Matching shipments through AI can reduce this drastically.”
Beyond cost and compliance, green logistics also encourages new hires, indicating a business with strong values.
