In Dublin, Deliveroo is trialling drone deliveries, teaming up with Manna – a Dublin-based logistics company which delivers a range of products in less than three minutes. Throughout this partnership. Deliveroo is hoping to reach suburban and harder-to-access areas at a faster pace.
In July 2026, DoorDash launched DoorDash Air, its in-house drone delivery programme. Following the earning of its Part 135 air carrier certification, it is authorised to operate as an air carrier, meaning it can create new opportunities for local businesses. This means time-sensitive food items like hot meals or hot drinks can be delivered, as can essentials like overthe-counter medications.
“ Advances in hardware, compute, and AI are creating extraordinary new capabilities for local commerce and becoming a certified air carrier accelerates everything we’ re building,” explains Harrison Shih, Head of DoorDash Air.
According to DoorDash, some of the locations taking part in the drone pilots saw order volumes grow by 30 %, with a sustained lift throughout the pilot.
With drones acting as a final-mile delivery option for food vendors, customers are gaining increased levels of satisfaction, with their orders arriving at the perfect temperature with minimal time delays.
