SUPPLY CHAIN TECHNOLOGY
Safety and security Due to their capabilities in capturing aerial imagery, they are used in largescale infrastructure projects, offering support in surveillance and tracking.
Drones are used to map land and inspect structures while ensuring the safety of workers. In every aspect, drones can enhance inspection protocols in order to operate seamlessly and safely.
At ports, they can navigate around ships, cargo and other infrastructure, providing insights that a human worker cannot. The data they can generate is immense, using sensor-readings and live feeds in order to offer real-time data transfers and analysis.
With this, they can monitor changing conditions and safety concerns, without putting workers at risk, meaning they can get closer to the risk in order to offer greater specificity in report data.
Drones are also seen as a lessobtrusive delivery option. As they operate in the skies or higher in a warehouse, people and vehicles are not having to navigate around them. Alongside this, they are relatively silent, meaning their contribution to noise pollution is minimal.
Their use within the supply chain is increasingly valuable, unlocking new insights and increasing efficiency significantly – according to Deloitte, they offer an estimated 94 % less energy per parcel.
