Chris Nielsen

Chris is EVP, CSCO and Chief Quality Officer for Toyota Motor North America, overseeing purchasing, logistics, quality, integrated planning, service parts and the Toyota Production System development teams. He joined Toyota in 1987 as a buyer at its Georgetown, Kentucky plant, progressing through purchasing leadership roles, overseeing more than US $ 30bn in annual parts and materials procurement.
A pioneer within the organisation, Chris became the first American to participate in Toyota’ s management expatriation programme and led the successful One Toyota headquarters merger before serving as president of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas. He now oversees roughly 5,000 team members and Toyota’ s US $ 50bn supply chain, having spearheaded a redefinition of quality globally that helped drive Lexus and Toyota to the top ranks of the JD Power Vehicle Dependability Survey. Chris serves on the boards of the National Association of Manufacturers and the Dallas Regional Chamber.
