T he Las Peñas neighbourhood , in the historic centre of the Ecuadorian city of Guayaquil , witnessed the foundation of Cervercería Nacional ( CN ) as The Guayaquil Lager Beer Brewery Association in 1887 , a brewery and ice-making company .
In October , 2016 , AB InBev – the largest brewery in the world – became the main shareholder of Cervecería Nacional . This allowed the company to continue with its traditional production of national beers , as well as expanding its catalogue with imported varieties in the framework of a great cultural and corporate change .
The merger promoted production in the two plants of Cervecería Nacional in Pascuales ( Guayaquil ) and Cumbayá ( Quito ), with modern and environmentally sustainable processes that also contribute positively to the Ecuadorian society .
GROWTH SINCE 2016 Cervecería Nacional has been transformed in all its aspects , driven to grow and become stronger and more efficient . This has led to a positive corporate culture that flourishes both across production plants and within operative work .
As regards its sourced raw materials such as barley , rice , packaging , labels and cold equipment , CN created a supplier development program looking for collaborators that are close to its expectations . This led to joint work and advice in order to offer world-class products and supplies that , in accordance with government regulations in Ecuador , give priority to local raw materials and Ecuadorian suppliers .
