Single-use plastics will likely be one of the highest waste causing materials in a company ’ s supply chain and should be avoided at all costs . Not only will the waste have a negative effect on profits , but single-use plastic is devastating the earth due to how many dispose of it . It ’ s predicted that up to 90 % of seabirds now have a form of microplastics inside of them and many of the fish we eat also contain the material . Businesses should evaluate their current plastic procurement and review what they believe to be ‘ essential ’ and what they do not . It ’ s also worth looking into using suppliers that avoid using this harmful material at all costs , instead opting for companies that look to use recyclable plastics or other alternatives like burlap .
