THE WAREHOUSE OF THE FUTURE
Looking to the future , Faki is laserfocused on the ways in which AI can be utilised for greater levels of automation and the development of drones and robotics . “ Our work in the development of aerial drones involves real-time 3D mapping of spaces , routing , spatial understanding and learning ,” he says . “ This will have huge benefits to warehouses and across the supply chain .” Faki emphasises that the continued rise of e-commerce means warehouses must get even smarter and more productive than ever before to keep up with demand . “ Many businesses are pushing to make their entire end-to-end operations completely autonomous , from the receipt of stock to the warehouse all the way through to the customer ’ s door ,” he adds . “ The integration of more connected devices and AI is a great facilitator to help support this transition . “ However , with distributed workforces and so many moving parts , no warehouse system can be completely optimised without the right solutions to manage these devices .”
