Climate-related disruptions Beyond geopolitical concerns, climaterelated disruptions are increasingly impacting supply chains worldwide.
Joselina emphasises that environmental risks are no longer future concerns but present realities requiring immediate attention.
For example, as of early May 2025, there have been more than 5,100 recorded earthquakes worldwide – a significant increase compared to the same period in 2024, which had a total of 14,175 earthquakes for the entire year.
“ April weather was behaving like January,” she highlights.“ We’ ve had issues in California, in Indonesia, in Thailand; we’ ve never had so many earthquakes.
“ This uptick highlights the critical need for resilient and adaptable supply chain strategies in the face of natural disruptions. It’ s becoming clear that this is no longer a future risk – the risk is right now.”
Nevertheless, Joselina contends that environmental challenges present opportunities for companies to redesign their products and processes to be more efficient and sustainable.
She shares an example of a food and beverage client whose packaging was redesigned from 24 layers to just six, resulting in significant cost savings and environmental benefits.
Joselina states:“ When you apply the principles of being strategic about the products you’ re designing from an environmental point of view, you can not only get dollars back, but you can get uptime back in your

De-risking strategies focus on partnerships For businesses looking to de-risk their supply chains, Joselina emphasises that establishing strong partnerships has become the most critical element.
Today, the traditional subservient relationship between companies and suppliers is evolving into a more collaborative ecosystem.
“ The partnership is not just the goods and services you’ re buying,” continues Joselina.“ You have to ask: what are our values? How are we set up to grow? How do our strategies extend to each other and support each other to realise our objectives?” supplychaindigital. com 85
