DHL has integrated drone cycle solutions across various areas of its logistics cycle, including within its inventory management cycle. It has tested and deployed the Eyesee solution from Hardis – which it used for its customer Dyson – and welcomes innovations from technology companies around the world.
In 2019, DHL Express was the first international express company to provide drone delivery services in China, due to its partnership with
EHang, an intelligent autonomous aerial vehicle company. In urban areas, drone delivery solutions help tackle some of the biggest challenges facing the last-mile, including congestion. The route covered a distance of eight kilometers, as well as reduced one-way delivery time from 40 minutes to only eight minutes.
These drones could carry up to 5kg of cargo per flight, and were specifically developed to be fully autonomous in their offloading and loading.
