Navigating complexity In recent years, major disruptors have become a common occurrence, driven by increasing extreme weathers, political disputes and inflation. Throughout his career, Daniel has seen all types of events as they impact operations at UPS, but recent years have proven a challenge that no expert could have predicted.
“ The hardest challenges,” Daniel says,“ have been those that disrupted established patterns of trade and transportation.” The COVID-19 pandemic is often cited as an example of a major event, or a turning point for how organisations approach resilience in logistics. Major volatility was staking its claim on global supply chains, though demand for critical shipments, such as healthcare products, skyrocketed.
